A statement from Ian Spiller @imspiller

Dear All,

As all the relevant people have now been informed, I wish to make it public that I have tendered my immediate resignation from the Conservative Party, unfortunately due to a number of issues both locally and nationally I feel unable to represent you as a conservative when my views are quite clearly different from a large proportion of the mainstream party.

I have always considered myself to be independently minded, and a very liberal conservative, one who even has socialist tendancies, as such I am unable to rationalise my position within any mainstream political grouping.

I have therefore with a great deal of thought decided that I am best to serve you as your local community councillor as an independent representative where I am free to express my own opinions regardless of whether they differ of clash with the opinions and views of those whos colours I chose to wear.

For me local politics is about representing and serving people to the best of your ability, and having the energy and dynanism to speak out for your community. I hope with the campaign I have led regarding changing to the Princess of Wales Hospital and my work within Broadlands and Laleston Community Council I have shown myself to be that person, and I will continue to serve you with the same energy, drive and determination as an Indepedent.

I would like to thank my former colleagues in the Welsh Conservatives for their support and assistance over the last few years, I have made some great friends and enjoyed our times together.

Many thanks for your support.

04/05/2013 Fun Day Flyer .. calling all those local businesses

We are producing a flyer again this year in support of the event - each flyer will be hand delivered by a member of the Residents Association or a resident to ensure every home is covered (approx 2300 homes).

If you are a local business and want to advertise with us on our fun day flyer - please get in touch - via personal message on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BroadlandsResidentsAssociation).  This is an EXCEPTIONALLY ECONOMICAL way to advertise your business and support this community event.  This year we will also publish the flyer via our blog and Facebook site once it has been delivered. We'll even link to your website if you have one!  All the businesses that support us will get a mention via this blog, we'll be putting a web page together covering the event and we'll add your businesses logo , your contact details up  on that page.

Thanks to all those businesses that have already asked to support us, we'll be publishing prices and options in a few days time.

We'll be looking for some volunteers to do a leaflet drop in their street - again get in touch, it will be much appreciated.

thanks again and we look forward to seeing you at the fun-day.

Refuse Collections - Remind your neighbours to take in their refuse and recycling.....

Please let your neighbours know that the council’s waste partners May Gurney have confirmed that collections for Thursday 24 January have been postponed on health and safety grounds. Many residents have still left their black bags and recycling out this evening....

Alternatively, residents can take their refuse and recycling to household recycling centres located at Brynmenyn, Tythegston, Penllwyngwent in Ogmore Vale and Heol Ty Gwyn in Maesteg.
Residents are encouraged to ensure that food waste is put into food recycling containers and not into refuse sacks as this could attract pests and result in torn bags.
Look out for further updates here, on twitter and via Bridge FM.

Many thanks!

recycling collections and other council services

LATEST UPDATE: Problems caused by the ongoing severe weather conditions are continuing to impact on recycling and refuse collections throughout the county borough.
The council’s waste partners May Gurney have confirmed that collections for Thursday 24 January have been postponed on health and safety grounds.
A substantial amount of the route, including pavements and verges, continues to be affected by snow and ice, and any further snow or freezing conditions could make the situation even worse.
This follows the postponement of collections for Monday 21, Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 January.

Residents whose collections fell on these days should store their recycling until their usual collection day next week. Likewise, refuse should be put out for the next scheduled refuse collection day.

Please see the official post here.

Please report this behaviour......

Please help put a stop to this behaviour around our community - if you see or know of the individuals causing this please report it to 101.   There are a number of issues around the development but we urge residents to report them.
